First of all, remember that you will be more likely to be among the first search results for recruiters and headhunters on LinkedIn, by having a “complete” profile in the sense of LinkedIn. It is not enough to have a truly complete profile, but it is a must. And to obtain a complete LinkedIn profile in the sense of LinkedIn, you must have a photo (portrait) on your LinkedIn profile!

When you are on LinkedIn, it is very often before anything else to make yourself visible! The photo stands out naturally. But not just any photo, a professional photo of course!

On LinkedIn, you have to earn the trust of those who visit your profile. Having a professional photo is one of the elements that make others want to connect with you, to meet you.

Not putting a photo is one of the most serious mistakes on Linkedin. Indeed, when you search for an apartment or a house on the internet, don’t you find it suspicious when there are no photos? On Linkedin, your profile is seven times more likely to be viewed if you put one.

Be careful not to overlook this aspect of communication. Indeed, even if the quality of photos has considerably increased on social networks in recent years, it is still common to find poorly framed, blurred photos taken anywhere with a poor-quality camera or photos that present the shadow generated by the flashlight on the wall behind you.

What Are The Criteria For A Successful Photo For Your Linkedin Profile?

Some of them will no doubt seem obvious to you, and yet if I talk about them here, it is because we still encounter all the errors listed below.

1.) You Must Be Alone In The Photo!

Eh yes! And when I say alone, it’s alone. No one, neither next to you, nor behind you (even if the background is blurred), nor your loved one’s arm around the neck! No pets, no spouses, no children! You have to be alone in the photo!

2.) A Photo Of You! Not An Avatar!

Above all avoid putting an avatar unless you apply for a position requiring great creativity, and again! On a professional social network, we don’t want to talk to an avatar, we want to know who we’re talking to! Linkedin is a network of professionals, all the more reason to be professional!

3.) The Place

No vacation photos, neither at sea nor in the mountains! Unless your profession is directly related to activities in these places. But if you are a sales manager in large retailers, no need to take a picture of yourself in a ski suit at the top of the slopes. No typesetting in a first-class TV with your feet on the table, with friends or family. No photo in the kitchen or the living room sitting comfortably on your sofa.
